Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri Offering Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in Middle and Upper Garda, proposing subscriptions to the armed forces magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance office, police, fire brigade, or Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with the law enforcement.

So, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

if they ask for money, disappears and is no longer visible.
