Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri Offering Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They pretend to be Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda, offering subscriptions to the armed forces magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to Recognize Scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or that have nothing to do with law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately inform the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you have the suspicion of being targeted by someone who,

after obtaining money, no longer appears.
