Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri Offering Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in the Medio and Alto Garda areas, offering subscriptions to magazines affiliated with the force.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to be part of the finance police, the regular police, firefighters, or municipal guards.

How to recognize scams and how to react

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or to publications that have no connection to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the authentic Carabinieri – just dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, after obtaining the money, disappear.
