Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri Offering Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurant owners in the Middle and Upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

They are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, firefighters, or municipal police.

How to recognize scams and how to react

They often suggest subscriptions to non-existent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement forces.

So, be careful and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri – just dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who, after getting the money, disappears.
