Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri Offering Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Alto Garda regions, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, on each occasion, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the local police.

How to recognize scams and how to react

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri – just dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

after taking the money, disappear from sight.
