Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri Offering Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when contacting hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

How to recognize scams and how to respond

They often offer subscriptions to non-existent magazines or others that are unrelated to the law enforcement.

So be careful and immediately notify the real Carabinieri – just dial 112 – as soon as you have the suspicion of being targeted by those who,

after taking the money, disappear without a trace.
