Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri Offering Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, each time, claim to belong to the finance department, police, firefighters, or municipal officers.

How to recognize scams and how to respond

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to the authorities.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the real Carabinieri – simply dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you’ve been targeted by individuals who, after obtaining the money, disappear.
