Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri Selling Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finansza, police, fire brigade, or municipal officers.

How to recognize scams and how to respond

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement.

So be careful and immediately notify the Carabinieri – just dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who, after obtaining the money, disappears.
