Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri Targeting Garda Business Owners

They impersonate Carabinieri when contacting hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda, proposing magazine subscriptions related to the force.

They are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, police, firefighters, or Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals

who claim to have money but then disappear.
