Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Deceive Hoteliers and Shopkeepers

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to the force‘s magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, the police, firefighters, or the Comune (Municipality) police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or those that have no connection to the law enforcement.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

after extracting money, no longer make themselves visible.
