Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Fraudulently Sell Magazine Subscriptions

They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Medio and Alto Garda areas, offering subscriptions to magazines from the armed forces.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, at different times, claim to belong to the finance department, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with law enforcement.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you sense you have been targeted by someone who,

has money but stops revealing themselves.
