Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Pitch Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs around Lake Garda’s middle and upper areas, proposing subscriptions to Arma magazines.

These are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, police, fire brigade, or municipal police.

How to recognize scams and how to react

They often offer subscriptions to non-existent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the actual Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, after collecting money, disappear.
