Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Sell Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to police-force magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance police, regular police, fire brigades, or local government officers.

How to recognize scams and how to respond

They often propose subscriptions to fake magazines or publications that have no relation to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the Carabinieri – simply dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who, after collecting the money, disappears.
