Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Sell Fake Magazine Subscriptions
They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurant owners in the Middle and Upper Garda area, proposing subscriptions to magazines of the force.
They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.
How to recognize scams and how to react
They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement forces.
Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — just call 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by those who,
having the amount of money, no longer show up.
