Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Sell Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in the middle and upper Garda area, offering magazine subscriptions from the Carabinieri.

These individuals are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, the police, fire brigade, or municipal police.

Beware of scams and how to respond

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you’ve been targeted by individuals who,

after taking your money, disappear and do not show up again.
