Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Sell Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate the Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, craftsmen, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to the force‘s magazines.

These are not actual military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, police, fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or those unrelated to the law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the real Carabinieri by dialing 112 — as soon as you have the suspicion that you have been targeted by individuals who,

having obtained money, disappear and do not show up again.
