Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Sell Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to military magazines.

They are not actual members of the military, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance authorities, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri – by dialing 112 – as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

if they had money, would no longer show up.
