Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Sell Fake Magazines in Garda

They dial Carabinieri numbers when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in the Medio and Alto Garda areas, offering subscriptions to magazines of the arma.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, police, fire brigade, or municipal vigilance.

Recognizing scams

They often suggest subscriptions to non-existent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you’ve been targeted by someone who,

if they are after money, rapidly disappears.
