They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in the Medio and Alto Garda areas, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the regular police, firefighters, or municipal police.

How to recognize scams and how to react

They often propose subscriptions to fake magazines or publications that have nothing to do with law enforcement forces.

Therefore, stay alert and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect being targeted by individuals who,

once they have the money, do not show up again.
