Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Target Garda Business Owners

They pretend to be Carabinieri when contacting hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda region, offering subscriptions to police-related magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the regular police, firefighters, or municipal officers.

How to recognize scams and how to react

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or to publications that have nothing to do with law enforcement authorities.

So, be vigilant and immediately inform the real Carabinieri – simply dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you’ve been targeted by individuals who, after taking the money, disappear.
