Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Target Garda Business Owners

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurant owners in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, proposing subscriptions to military magazines.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance corps, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

How to recognize scams and how to respond

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

once they have the money, disappear without a trace.
