Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Target Garda Business Owners

They impersonate carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurant owners in the mid and upper Garda area, proposing subscriptions to Arma magazines.

These are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, police, fire brigade, or municipal police.

Beware of scams and how to respond

They often offer subscriptions to non-existent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have targeted by someone who, after receiving the money, disappears.
