Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Target Garda Business Owners

They impersonate Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to military magazines.

These are not soldiers, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, police, fire brigade, or municipal officers (Comune).

Recognizing Scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement agencies (forze dell’ordine).

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by people who,

if they are after money, tend to disappear.
