Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Target Garda Businesses

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

They are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, police, fire brigade, or municipal guards.

How to recognize scams and how to respond

They often offer subscriptions to non-existent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with law enforcement.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the Carabinieri – just dial 112 – as soon as you suspect being targeted by individuals who, after obtaining the money, disappear.
