Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Target Garda Businesses

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda area, proposing subscriptions to magazines of the force.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

How to recognize scams and how to react

They often offer subscriptions to non-existent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement forces.

So, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

for money, disappear without a trace.
