Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Target Garda Businesses

They impersonate Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Medio and Alto Garda regions, offering subscriptions to magazines from the force.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to be part of the finance department, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal officers.

How to recognize scams and how to respond

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement.

Therefore, stay alert and immediately notify the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

money in hand, disappear once their goal is accomplished.
