Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Target Garda Businesses

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who variously claim to belong to the financial police, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often promote subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with the security forces.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you’ve been targeted by individuals who,
