Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Target Garda Businesses

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, offering subscriptions to military magazines.

They are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, police, fire brigade, or municipal guards.

How to Recognize Scams

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or to publications unrelated to law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, if they have money, will no longer show themselves.
