Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Target Garda Businesses

They impersonate Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurants in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those that have nothing to do with law enforcement forces.

So, be vigilant and promptly notify the genuine Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

having taken money, no longer shows up.
