Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Target Garda Region Businesses

They impersonate Carabinieri when calling hotel owners, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Medio and Alto Garda areas, proposing subscriptions to magazines of the force.

They are not actual military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, police, fire brigade, or municipal guards.

How to recognize scams and how to respond

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, stay alert and immediately notify the Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

having the sum of money, vanishes without further contact.
