Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Target Garda Region Businesses

They disguise themselves as Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in the Medio and Alto Garda regions, offering subscriptions to magazines related to the force.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance authorities, the police, fire brigades, or municipal workers.

How to recognize scams and how to respond

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately report to the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect being targeted by individuals who,
