Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Target Garda Region Businesses

They impersonate Carabinieri when contacting hotel owners, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda regions, offering subscriptions to the force’s magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to financial authorities, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipality police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with the law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,
