Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Target Garda Region Businesses

They impersonate Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Medio and Alto Garda regions, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

These are not military personnel but scammers who, at different times, claim to belong to the financial police, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

How to recognize scams and how to respond

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines unrelated to the law enforcement.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the real Carabinieri – simply dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, after receiving the money, disappear.
