Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Target Garda Region Businesses

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in the Medio and Alto Garda areas, offering subscriptions to military magazines.

They are not soldiers, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, the police, the fire brigade, or municipal officers.

How to recognize scams and how to respond

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or that have nothing to do with the law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately inform the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, after taking the money, disappear.
