Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Target Local Businesses

They impersonate Carabinieri when telefonisch contacting hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Medio and Alto Garda, proposing subscriptions to magazines associated with the force.

They are not soldiers, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal guards.

How to recognize scams and how to react

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with the law enforcement.

So, be cautious and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,
