Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Trick Business Owners in Garda

They impersonate Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurants in the Médio and Alto Garda regions, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police department, fire brigade, or the municipal police.

Recognizing scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with the law enforcement.

So, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

wants money, and then disappears.
