Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Trick Businesses in Garda Area

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurants in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to the army’s magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, at various times, claim to belong to finance departments, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or publications unrelated to the law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

after obtaining money, no longer makes themselves visible.
