Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Trick Businesses in Garda Region

They impersonate Carabinieri when making telephone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

However, they are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

How to recognize scams and how to respond

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately alert the Carabinieri—simply dial 112— as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,
