Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Trick Garda Area Businesses

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Medio and Alto Garda areas, proposing subscriptions to army magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, police force, fire brigade, or Municipal police.

Recognizing scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — you just need to dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you’ve been targeted by individuals who,

in possession of money, no longer show themselves.
