Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Trick Garda Business Owners

They impersonate Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in the Middle and Upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

They are not law enforcement officers, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, police, fire brigade, or municipal officers.

How to recognize scams and how to respond

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those that have nothing to do with law enforcement.

Therefore, stay alert and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri – just dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you have fallen prey to someone who, after obtaining the money, disappears.
