Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Trick Garda Business Owners

They impersonate Carabinieri when contacting hoteliers, shop owners, craftsmen, and restaurant owners in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, proposing magazine subscriptions for the Force.

These are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, firefighters, or municipal police.

How to recognize scams and how to react

They often offer subscriptions to non-existent magazines or magazines unrelated to law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri – just dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who, after receiving money, disappears.
