Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Trick Garda Business Owners

They pretend to be Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Medio and Alto Garda regions, offering subscriptions to magazines of the armed force.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the regular police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

Recognizing scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those having no relation to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you have a suspicion of being targeted by individuals who,

if they had money, would no longer show themselves.
