Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Trick Garda Business Owners

They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in the Middle and Upper Garda, offering magazine subscriptions from the army.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, at different times, claim to be part of the finance department, police, fire brigade, or Municipal police.

Recognizing scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or ones that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, stay alert and immediately inform the Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

if they have money, disappear and are no longer visible.
