Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Trick Garda Business Owners

They impersonate carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the central and northern Garda area, proposing subscriptions to military-related magazines.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, police, fire brigade, or municipal police.

They often propose subscriptions to fictitious magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

after collecting the money, disappear without a trace.
