Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Trick Garda Business Owners

They are impersonating carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in the middle and upper Garda area, proposing subscriptions to magazines of the Arma.

These are not members of the military, but scammers who, at various times, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

Beware of scams and how to react

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you’ve been targeted by individuals who, after receiving money, disappear.
