Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Trick Garda Businesses

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in Medio and Alto Garda, proposing subscriptions to magazines of the army.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, police, firefighters, or municipal guards.

How to recognize scams and how to react

They often offer subscriptions to fake magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with the law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri – simply dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who, after receiving the money, disappears.
