Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Trick Garda Businesses

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurant owners in the Medio and Alto Garda area, proposing subscriptions to magazines associated with the force.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to be part of the finance department, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

How to recognize scams and how to react

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately inform the real Carabinieri – simply dial 112 – as soon as you sense you have been targeted by individuals who, after receiving the money, disappear.
