Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Trick Garda Businesses

They impersonate Carabinieri when calling hotel owners, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda regions, offering subscriptions to their magazines from the force.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, police, fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or publications unrelated to the law enforcement authorities.

Therefore, stay alert and immediately call the Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

after obtaining money, cease to appear or make contact.
