Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Trick Garda Hoteliers and Restorers

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to the forces’ magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, police, fire brigade, or Municipal police.

How to Recognize Scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with the law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect that you have been targeted by individuals who,

if they have money, may disappear without a trace.
