Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Trick Garda Hoteliers and Shopkeepers

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipality police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately report to the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

if they demand money, disappear without a trace.
